The Cascade and Chinook fields are located approximately 160 miles south of the Louisiana coast in Walker Ridge Blocks 205, 206, 249 and 250 (Cascade - 8,200ft WD) and Walker Ridge Blocks 425, 426, 469 and 470 (Chinook - 8,600ft WD).

The development plan was based on a phased development concept and in the initial phases production from both fields were tied back to a disconnectable turret buoy moored Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO).

The FPSO was located in WR Block 249 in 8,250 feet water depth. The disconnectable turret buoy could be lowered from the vessel prior to the onset of hurricane conditions enabling the vessel to sail away from the storm. The buoy is designed to sink to a predetermined depth to avoid the brunt of environmental loading during a hurricane.
