As a (Sr.) Simulation Engineer you will prepare and coordinate simulations for studies, tenders, commercial projects, internal business development products and operator training executed in Heerema’s Simulation Center (HSC). You are assigned to Strategy and Development department and provide support to all Business Units; Transport & Installation, Decommissioning, Wind, and Asset department for operator training and S&T department for product development.

The department
You work in a team, together with a Simulation Facilitator, (Jr.) Simulation Engineers, Visual Modelers. You create the required models and build the exercises fit for purpose to achieve the goals and make the simulation a success. As a (Sr.) Simulation Engineer you are responsible for technical set-up and execution of simulation(s).

Daily activities

  • Gathering the correct input from the project team, working together with the visual modelers and other simulation engineers to create the content;
  • Held regular progress meetings with the project team where you inform them about progress, verify the correctness of the input and assumptions and you keep the expectations for the simulation aligned;
  • Responsible for the quality of the models and having the simulation ready in time;
  • Act as an instructor during the simulation. When required you process logged signals and create a simulation report;
  • Share knowledge by writing and maintaining wiki pages.


  • 2-5 years’ experience with offshore engineering;
  • Preferred experience with Blender, Simulation Software and familiar with XML format;
  • Good communication skills and a speak-up mentality;
  • Efficient with work preparation and planning, knowing when enough is enough to get the job done;
  • A collaborative spirit, a sense of humor, and a strong work ethic with a "let's get it done" approach;
  • Eager to learn.
